The Polar Vortex brought us awesome images, below freezing temperatures and many emergency relocation needs to start our new year. Heroic efforts were put forth by our mechanic, Valentin Torres, and operational staff to keep our trucks running and our movers moving in the record cold and snow.
Emergency calls came in the first work days of the year and continued through the long month of brutal temperatures. Hallett was able to respond to several locations in need due to pipes bursting. This included Prairie Oak Elementary School in Berwyn, Franciscan Physician Network in Frankfort, Robert Morris University in Chicago, and Hinsdale Middle School. In a double quick hurry─library material, shelving, exam tables and other furnishings were relocated to allow for clean-up in all locations. Hinsdale Middle School just reopened Tuesday, February 4, following a clean-up of mold that occurred due to the pipe burst.
We are hoping February sees a return of more modest winter temperatures and less weather related damage to our neighboring communities.
