I want to share with you my experience with Hallett Movers. While the other movers on your list are probably good and qualified movers, I know from experience that Hallett is extraordinary. They just completed (early October) a 1.2+ million volume move for me here at the Ohio State University Thompson Library. They also moved our Hilandar Research Library (special collection), our Map collection and our Microform collection at the same time.

This is not the first time that we have used Hallett and it won't be the last time either. They have a wonderful system for measuring collections, tagging them, and then delivering them to their final locations. In our move, they interfiled two 30,000 volume collections into the 1.2 million general collection volumes as well as interfiling 7 different reference collections into one. They did this seamlessly.

Several things really stand out about Hallett which I believe makes them a great choice. First is the amount of time they spend in the pre-planning stages of the move. At Ohio State, they spent lots of time on-site and in meetings learning about our collections and about what our expectations were before the move.

Second, they offer a great deal of flexibility during the move. On several occasions, we changed our plans of where things were going and how things would be shelved and on each occasion they were more than gracious in how they handled it and very eager to make sure that they got things right, which they always did. They were also working amidst an office mover and two construction firms. We never had any problems with coordination between them.

Third, they really hustle. Each time we have used Hallett, they have completed the move before our expected completion date.

Finally, I have to add that they are simply a very nice group of people to be working with. In a move of our size, complexity, and length of time, this made a big difference.

If I were to classify Hallett's performance at Ohio State, I would say that it has consistently been very successful.
