Decommissioning
Hallett Movers can be your partner in successfully meeting the decommissioning demands of your commercial lease (SEE MORE) and leaving a clean environment behind as you move forward.
Decommissioning – the disassembly and removal of furniture and equipment to repurpose, recycle, or dispose – is a typical, essential component of many moves. If not managed properly then the costs of decommissioning can grow larger than the cost of the move itself!
Hallett Movers has managed decommissioning projects since our beginnings in the 1920s. Our experienced staff carefully disassemble and remove assets so these can be sold, donated, repurposed, recycled, or disposed. Our new technologies include customized inventory spreadsheets that help you know exactly what you have to make the best assessments about where it is going. As part of our commitments both to green practices and to the Chicagoland community, we strive to re-home useful furniture and appliances. Our partnerships with the Summit Park District and local school districts and our relationships with public libraries and other non-profits make this possible and meaningful.
We can decommission:
We have the ability to manage hazardous waste materials in certain situations.
Our team can also make repairs such as patching or replacing areas of walls, floors, ceilings, or windows in order to restore the space to its original condition. We use industrial vacuums and commercial magnets to pick up small metal bits commonly left behind in these processes. We leave all of our jobs broom clean— a literal final sweep before we finish.
Hallett Movers is available for decommissioning as a stand-alone work or as part of a larger moving contract. Please contact us regarding decommission work to discuss how we might be of service to you.

I was super impressed!
The Hallett Team was courteous, professional and asked all the right questions. They even provided me with 3 separate written estimates to cover the various scenarios I was facing. This after I really didn’t give them much advance notice. They were also quick to respond to all of my follow-up emails. With Hallett, I never bothered to circle back with any of the other movers I was considering.
The driver assigned was fantastic. He arrived right on time, resolved a minor issue involving the dock that was the building’s fault, and loaded up quickly, safely and with a smile. Everything made it to its destination in the exact condition it left in, on time and again with a smile and advance phone call.
I will be using Hallett for all future moves and recommend them to others making commercial or personal moves in the Chicago area. I very much appreciate Hallett’s excellent service during a stressful time.
